The Side by Side faith movement for gender justice in Tanzania was launched in Dar es Salaam
on 30 November 2017.

The launch was made possible through local partners working tirelessly and in strong collaboration with the Church of Sweden and Norwegian Church Aid.

During the launch event, Tanzanian faith leaders and faith actors shared insights into the realities of gender-based violence and reflected on the international 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence which had begun five days earlier.

They committed to working together wherever possible, as the faith community in Tanzania, to meet  local challenges in bringing about justice and equality for all people irrespective of gender.

Christian, Muslim and African Traditional Religious groups were represented.
