At its recent annual meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, the International Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development (PaRD) accepted the Side by Side movement for gender justice as a partner.

PaRD brings together members and partners from all over the world in order to harness the positive impact of religion in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. The Partnership recognises that religion matters: “More than 80 per cent of the global population affiliates with a religion, and religious values and leaders influence the thoughts and actions of billions of people. Religion is a source of strength and resilience in harsh conditions as well as emergencies. It also inspires millions of volunteer workers everywhere. The unique global and local networks fostered by religious actors reach into the most remote corners of the world.”

As a PaRD partner, Side by Side will have opportunities to benefit from knowledge sharing, joint strategy development and project piloting, and to contribute towards a more coherent and effective international agenda on religion and development.
